Lyngen peninsula and its surroundings is a great place not just do high quality skitouring in amazing atmosphere, but it is also THE PLACE to ski steep lines. There is such a great variety of couloirs in every exposition and dificulty with relatively easy access, that you can find easily great lines for one week.

Unlike on a typical skitouring week we push it a little bit harder to achieve more. We may stand up very early, be on skies at midnight or boot back up the exhausting couloir just to be able to ski some special descents in this special place.

Day 1 - Arrival

Arrival in Tromso. We meet at Tromso airport and continue (1h) to our accommodation at Lakselv. This idyliic hut is due to its location it is a perfect base camp for steep skiing in the arctic spring. There we discuss the program of the week and have dinner.

Days 2-7 Touring Days


It gets serious! We do day trips from our base and try to ski the most interresting lines that are possible for the currrent conditions. Meaning that the tours can be more exhausting than average skitouring and that we have to alter our normal daily rythm. It is possible that we do very early "alpine start", as we well as that we use the better conditions later in the day and start in the the afternoon.

We usually have Breakfast and dinner in our reindeer herders hut and we will make day trips of about 1000-1800m. This means up to about 7 hours of climbing and 11 hours total touring time per day.

Day 7 return

We eat breakfast at our cabin and go back to Tromso Airport.

The tour is designed for experienced skiers with good physical condition. How ever you do not have to be steepski professional. It is sufficient if one is technically in a position to ski slopes with 45 degrees of inclination in good conditions. Physically the participants must be able to manage upto seven-hour climbs and about eleven hours total touring time per day in a moderate pace.

Freeride Skiing is an high alpine activity in a terrain, risk of avalanches and stone and ice fall is present. The daily goals can be more dificult or even impossible to reach upon unfavorable conditions (weather, snow, ice, fog, rain, storms, avalanches, lightning storms) Unfortunately also short-term occurrence of such conditions can happen in the high mountains in any season.


The tour takes place in Norway. Make sure that you have sufficent insurances for that area.
